Led by a Teacher Who’s Spent a Lifetime Perfecting Her Craft
Valerie Holgers has been a registered RAD teacher since 1974 — qualifying in both executant and teacher exams with the world-acclaimed Royal Academy of Dance.
Valerie holds a Bachelor of Arts and continues mentoring RAD teacher’s certification candidates today. Alongside senior instructors Jennifer Gray (Performers College, London) and Lindsey Clements (Point Park University), your dancer learns from real, credentialed professionals — not just enthusiastic hobbyists.

New to ABCBend? Start Here
My child has never danced before. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Most of our dancers start with zero experience — our Petites Étoiles and beginning classes are built for first-timers. If your child has had some previous dance training, just let us know and we’ll schedule a quick placement chat with a teacher to find the right level.
What age can my child start?
We welcome dancers starting at age 2 all the way through adult. Our 2-year-old class includes a parent in the room, and by age 3 we gently work toward independence in the studio.
Do I need to come into the office to register?
Not at all. We’re happy to register you right over the phone, including credit or debit card payment. Just call (541) 382-4055 or fill out the form on this page and we’ll call you.
Will my child get to perform?
Yes! Every ABCBend dancer performs in The Nutcracker: A Child’s Tale at the historic Tower Theatre each holiday season, plus a Spring Production every June to celebrate a year of hard work.
What does my dancer need for their first class?
For ballet classes: a leotard, tights or socks, and leather ballet shoes. For non-ballet classes: black shorts or leggings, an ABC or fitted white shirt, and indoor shoes. We’re happy to walk you through it when you call.
Can I watch class?
Of course. Parents are always welcome to watch through our studio viewing windows and large-screen TVs. (Our youngest 2-year-old class includes a parent right in the room.)
What is RAD, and why does it matter?
The Royal Academy of Dance is a world-renowned ballet education organization spanning 82 countries. As an Approved Examination Center, ABCBend trains and assesses students against this internationally recognized standard — the RAD is recognized by the UK’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations (Ofqual) to award qualifications on the Regulated Qualifications Framework.
