Advancing from Grade 6 to Grade 7

Continuing with their Romantic Era ballet studies, students find the elevated skill level invigorating with a dash of challenge. Their solid technical skills learned in Grade 6 allow for this advanced level that the Grade 7 choreography demands.

Expanded Vocabulary & Choreographic Complexity

Grade 7 vocabulary expands with advanced levels of choreography, performance quality, and musical responsiveness. Class work includes Free Movement (lyrical) and court dances of Eastern Europe.

Romantic Era Influence & Iconic Dancers

As an Upper Level of ballet class, this course of study continues to draw from the Romantic Era of ballet, which featured stars of the era such as Fanny Elsler, Carolotta Grisi, Anna Pavlova, and Isadora Duncan. Dancers love the use of sensitive and artistic choreography that allows students to enhance their ability to elegantly illustrate knowledge of the Romantic Era’s style.

RAD Examination Standards & Performance Expectations

Examination standards remain high, where dancers illustrate their ability to perform with the sensitivity of this style of classical ballet. Classical vocabulary requires solid posture and placement, infused with the endurance these longer settings require.

Grade 7 dancers are requested to take the Intermediate Modern & Lyrical | ABCBend or Advanced Contemporary | ABCBend class to enhance their enjoyment and expand abilities.

Yearly Tuition, divided evenly in 10 monthly installments includes:

Two weekly Grade 7 classes and a Progressing Ballet Technique (strengthening and stretching) session that occurs during the weekly scheduled class time
RAD Examination, to be taken in the Spring with live pianist accompaniment
One Mock Exam prior to formal exams to familiarize dancers of the process
Any props necessary for Exam Session
Achievement Ceremony
Parent observation weeks – 1 week each month. Come see their progress!
Regulation chiffon skirt rental in class color

Your registration fee and class fee (for uniform), is due upon registration and reserves your dancer’s place in class. Monthly autopay for your tuition fees are charged on the 1st beginning September 1st and ending June 1st.

June Production

Dancers pay monthly installments for the June show alongside class tuition.

Mid-Year Registration

Registration is open through January 15th and includes your place in the cast for the year-end June production.

Catch up fees may apply to cover production and exam expenses. Monthly tuition is prorated based on when you begin your first class.

DRESS CODE

For your convenience, a one time “class fee” covers the RAD regulation class uniform

You may receive your uniform all at once or in pieces as you need throughout the year.

Some returning dancers already have their complete uniform and may contact the studio to waive what our system calls a “class fee” (for your uniform).

Girls
HAIR MUST be secured into a classical ballet bun or ponytail. Short hair may be held off the face with a headband. Perfect Ballet Hair
- RAD regulation tank leotard with matching belt
- Circular chiffon skirt in camisole color – calf length
- Bras must be hidden under leotard – NO sports bras please. A nude camisole with an attached bra is preferred.
- Nude camisole – replaces underwear for a tidy appearance (purchased separately).
- Ballet tights in “convertible” style, in pink or skin color
- Ballet shoes – pink or skin color leather
- Character skirt and black character shoes (Rental included in tuition or optional purchase available)
Please, no leg warmers. Optional: ballet sweater and a nude leotard (not included).
Boys
- White tank or short-sleeved leotard, boys dance belt
- Navy stirrup tights or ankle leggings
- White full-sole leather ballet shoes
- White dance socks
- Black character shoes (Rental included in tuition or optional purchase available)

How dancers progress at Academie de Ballet Classique

All students are rewarded with an unbiased assessment assuring a safe progression to the next level. Assessments occur in the spring each year as a fun way to show off what we’ve learned for the examiner.

Tuition includes one Assessment to be taken in the Spring, prop kit, and Character rental fee. Extras are divided up into 10 equal payments. If a dancer drops the class mid-year; they will be charged for the balance owed on props and examinations.
