Students may move from Graded levels to Vocational Graded levels at an appropriate time, or they may study both pathways simultaneously.
Upper grades 6, 7 and Grade 8 Award and the Vocational pre-professional classes can be found in our Les Etoiles series.

On successful completion of school year’s course of study students, through participation and practice, your child will be able to:
- Articulate parts of the body with control and coordination
- Demonstrate awareness of positions of the body, increasing in difficulty with each grade
- Perform with an awareness of space
- Demonstrate control and co-ordination
- Demonstrate elevation with sense of performance and communication with an audience
- Demonstrate use of appropriate movement dynamics with increasing sophistication appropriate to each level
- Despond to the elements of music
- Perform expressively
- Perform a sequence of simple steps to depict a story
- Confidently recall the settings
What does all of that mean? It means our excellent teaching staff guide students on a dance journey with skills that will last a lifetime. Students learn to work together, be responsible for oneself, cheer others to excel while working on their own achievements. Children and adults love being part of something beautiful and joyful. Tuition includes Assessment to be taken in the Spring.

- GIRLS (Please no leg warmers unless your child is protecting an injury) Hair secured into a classical ballet bun or ponytail. Short hair may be held off the face with a headband. RAD regulation leotard in class color, pink ballet socks, pink full-soled leather ballet shoes (no satin slippers please)
- BOYS: Dark blue dance shorts, White short-sleeved t-shirt, or boys white short-sleeved leotard, white socks, and white full-soled leather ballet shoes
ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE PROGRAM Grades 1 – 5 in Dance
Grade 1 in Dance
Ages 8 – 9
We start here for dancers ages 8 – 9, perfectly suited to build confidence, stamina, and coordination for all forms of dance and sport. Children work together and individually in fascinating dances and exercises that progress throughout the year. Excited and challenged, at year’s end you’ll be enthralled at their progress during our annual Achievement Ceremony.
Tuition includes Royal Academy of Dance Proficiency assessment held each Spring.

Grade 2 in Dance
Ages 9 – 11
Grade 2 in Dance continues to build skills, technique, and performance abilities developed in prior levels. Students work together and individually to progress with fascinating dances.
Excited and challenged, at year’s end you’ll be enthralled at their progress during our annual Achievement Ceremony and again at their June studio performance

Grade 3 in Dance
Ages 9 – 12
Grade 3 in Dance becomes more sophisticated with increased challenges and new vocabulary.
Excited and challenged, these aspiring stars (Etoiles) throughly shine during ABCBend’s annual June theatrical performance.
Tuition includes Royal Academy of Dance Proficiency assessment held each Spring followed by our Annual Achievement Ceremony.

Grade 4 in Dance
Ages 10 – 12
Grade 4 in Dance challenges each dancer to find their footing with 7th year ballet’s vocabulary, intricate exercises and clever set dances. As with all the RAD grades, character and lyrical dance round out our content RAD program
Many Grade 4 in Dancer serve on ABCBend’s Ambassador program, learning leadership as they mentor the younger dancers.

Grade 5 in Dance

Your dreams are becoming an exciting reality. Join us to fulfill your dance dreams and to continue building your special mastery and impeccable performance.
Each graded level progresses with confirmation from the world renowned Royal Academy of Dance Achievement Assessment, assuring that each dancer shows the required technical skills necessary to progress to more demanding classwork.
The Grade 5 in Dance level incorporates classical, contemporary ballet, lyrical and character dances. A program unlike anything in our area to make for a very full year of challenge, success and satisfaction.
